Fri. July 16: Following breakfast, check out and
continue traveling to our nation’s capital, Washington, DC. Upon arrival in the area, you will proceed for
a visit to the Smithsonian Institution Complex where you can visit the museum(s) of your choice. Afterwards, continue
to your hotel for check-in. Dinner has been arranged for you this evening.
Sat. July 17:
After breakfast, depart on a full day of touring. Stop at Arlington Cemetery to
see the grounds via the Tram, including the Women in the Military Memorial at Arlington. View one of the
largest bronze statues every cast, the Marine Corps War Memorial’s Iwo Jima Statue. Afterwards, depart for
visits to some of the memorial, including the National World War II Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial,
the Lincoln Memorial, and the Korean War Veterans Memorial. Enjoy lunch on your own at Union
Station, the Reagan Building, one of the area’s newest conference and event facilities with over 55,000 square
feet of space including an amphitheater, an exhibit hall, meeting rooms, and reception areas. In the afternoon, meet
your guide at the Reagan Building to depart for the Capitol Visitor Center (CVC) which is located underground
on the east side of the Capitol. You will also visit the U.S. Capitol and the U.S. Library of Congress and
tour the outside of the Supreme Court Building. A photo stop of the White House will also be made, followed
by a stop at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial and the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial. Dinner
has been arranged for you in the area, followed by a visit to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts which is
a living memorial to President Kennedy. Continue with a driving tour of the illuminated monuments which include
the Air Force Memorial, the Pentagon, the Jefferson Memorial, the Marine Corps Memorial (Imo Jima
Statue), the White House, and the Washington Memorial.
Sun. July 18:
After an early breakfast at the hotel, check out and depart for the Smithsonian’s Steven
F. Udavar Hazy Air Space Museum, located at Dulles Airport. The Museum houses many aircraft/spacecraft which
tell the history of aviation and space flight. You will also see the museum’s newest arrival, the Space Shuttle
Discovery, which was the longest serving orbiter in the NASA space shuttle fleet. You will have time to explore the
museum at your own pace and get lunch on your own. Later, you will depart for your overnight stop for lodging (pack
an overnight bag); dinner is on your own this evening.
July 19: Following breakfast, check out & depart for home with fond memories of your stay in Washington,
